Story in the Glass

This window depicts Saint Rose of Lima.  She was born in Lima Peru in 1586.  At 15 she received the habit of a Third Order of St. Dominic.  However, in obedience to her parents, she did not enter the convent, but lived at home in penance and mystical prayer.   She is the first saint canonized from the Americas.  Her feast day is August 23.

This is the wise bridesmaid, whom the Lord found waiting.

Story of the Glass

This window was created around 1880, probably manufactured by a German studio.  It was the gift of Rev. James McGlew.  St. Rose had only recently been canonized when this window was fabricated, and this may be one of the earliest major works depicting St. Rose commissioned in the world.

The window is located in the south nave.
