| Story in the Glass This window
depicts St. James the Apostle. He was the son of Zebedee and the brother of St. John
the Evangelist. James, along with his brother John and Peter, were present at the
Transfiguration. He was the first of the apostles to be martyred in 43 or 44.
By ancient tradition, James is associated with Spain, where his body is buried in the
great Cathedral of Compostella. He is often shown with a walking stick and a cockle
shell. His feast day is July 25. |

Walking by the Sea of Galilee, Jesus saw James and John, the
sons of Zebedee, mending their nets, and he called them to follow him. Matt 4:18 |
