Parish Respect Life

"The 'people of life' rejoices in being able to share its commitment with so many others. Thus may the 'people for life' constantly grow in number and may a new culture of love and solidarity develop for the true good of the whole human society." EV 101

Through parish respect life committees the Gospel of Life becomes a living reality in communities across the Archdiocese.

Through their ongoing service, parishes provide the inestimable power of intercessory prayer, life affirming referrals, the compassionate care of programs such as the Parish Baby Shower, and the educational programs which foster reverence for life from conception until natural death.

Working with the support and guidance of the Pro-Life Office, parish respect life committees work to heighten public awareness of life issues while providing the information and loving care that celebrate the gift of life.

Spiritual Adoption Program

A Spiritual Adoption Program is a pledge to pray daily for nine months for an unborn child in danger of abortion and his or her mother. The Spiritual Adoption Program in the Archdiocese of Boston prays through the intercession of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Patroness of the Americas and of unborn children, to change minds and hearts to build a culture of life. The Spiritual Adoption Program also includes education about the development of the unborn child, and pastoral outreach to mothers and babies through parish “baby showers” at the conclusion of the nine months.
