Cardinal's Message For the Start of Lent

"The Lenten season presents us the opportunity to deepen our relationship with God through prayer, fasting and recognition of our need to be reconciled with the Lord and one another.   In living our lives as disciples of Christ we are called to make a gift of ourselves to God and to others.   During the 40 days of Lent we make a special effort to include prayer and works of mercy in our daily lives and to receive the Eucharist and the sacrament of Reconciliation more frequently.   May the peace of Christ be with the people of the Archdiocese of Boston during this blessed time as together we journey to the joy and renewal of Easter."
