October 28, 2007 - Cardinal O'Malley To Dedicate New Centers At St. Tarcisius on November 3rd

Cardinal Seán O'Malley will visit St. Tarcisius School in Framingham, Mass. at 6 p.m., Saturday, November 3, to celebrate the commitment of the greater Framingham community in supporting the vibrancy of Catholic Education today.

During his visit, Cardinal Seán will bless and dedicate St. Tarcisius' newest addition, an innovative Technology Center, and also bless the new Early Childhood Education Center (ECEC), formerly the School's preschool.

The much-anticipated projects are the result of a fundraising and technology campaign that kicked off during Catholic Schools Week, January 28 through February 3, 2007. The completion of these projects also represents that final stage of a multi-year effort by the Catholic Schools Foundation, in partnership with local schools, to ensure that the elementary schools of the Archdiocese provide the best technology possible for students.

Following a tour and ceremony to bless the school's latest enhancements, the Cardinal will close the centennial year of the parish with a special Mass at St. Tarcisius Church at 6:30 p.m. All are invited to attend this special Mass.

The new state-of-the-art Technology Center offers teachers and students the capability of efficiently communicating and sharing information with each other via the Internet. With the new wireless access, the school's two buildings virtually become one.

"The updated equipment is needed to prepare students for future educational challenges," noted St Tarcisius Principal Mary Ellen Wyman. "The technology will also play a major role in increasing the efficiency of student comprehension, while enhancing the learning process," she added. New computers and wide-screen display panels will offer teachers the ability to visually display class lectures for students, complete with animation and sound. With the relocation of the new computer lab, much-needed additional space is now available for the School to expand its main library.

The second project, the Early Childhood Education Center (ECEC) is redesigned and revamped to better meet the current and future needs of preschoolers.

St. Tarcisius, founded in 1959, is a preschool through Grade 8, which serves as a Catholic multi-cultural learning community. Accredited by the Archdiocese of Boston and the New England Association of Schools and Colleges, the school helps students develop their spiritual, moral, intellectual, and social potential.

In the tradition established by the Sisters of St. Joseph, St. Tarcisius School provides Catholic education respecting each student's individual dignity in a caring, safe, and Christian environment. For more information on the School, please contact the school Principal, Mrs. Mary Ellen Wyman at 508-872-8188.
