Cardinal Seán and Metropolitan Methodios will co-lead a group of Pilgrims from the Archdiocese of Boston and the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of New England to Rome, Constantinople, and Saint Petersburg.
The pilgrimage is part of the flourishing ecumenical relationship between the Greek Orthodox Church of Boston and the Catholic Church of Boston.
Highlights are intended to include Great Vespers with the Patriarch of Constantinople, a general audience with the Holy Father, Excavations under St. Peter's Basilica, Mass at the Tomb of the Apostle Paul, Hagia Sophia, Halki, the Hermitage, Orthodox Cathedrals of St. Petersburg, and more.
The Orthodox and Catholics of Boston aim to build unity and peace by sharing the Pilgrimage experience, deepening our relationship, and sharing it with our parishes and others. Christian unity helps spread the Gospel and serve the world.
The Pilgrimage will depart Boston for Rome on Sunday evening, September 16, 2007; fly from Rome to Istanbul on Thursday, September 20, 2007; fly on to St. Petersburg Sunday, September 23, 2007; and return to Boston on Wednesday, September 26, 2007. |
