August 30, 2007 - Archdiocese Statement On Caritas Christi CEO SearchAs announced in late June, the Archdiocese of Boston and Caritas Christi Health Care remain focused on operating Caritas Christi independently and are conducting a search for a permanent chief executive officer who can lead Caritas Christi into the future. The national search is being conducted under the leadership of John Kaneb with the assistance of Russell Reynolds Associates. The Archdiocese is committed to hiring the best and the brightest individual to lead Caritas Christi and is specifically seeking to hire a leader capable of building on the strengths of Caritas Christi's integrated delivery system and its last two years of profitable operations. While we continue to work as an independent Catholic health care system in this archdiocese, we remain open to exploring an appropriate and mutually agreeable affiliation that provides an opportunity to enhance the quality and accessibility of Catholic health care not just within the Caritas network, but throughout the region and have no further comment on any potential activity of this nature at this time. Message From Dr. Chessare To Caritas CommunityDear Caritas Christi Colleagues: I want to take this opportunity to update you on the system's search for a permanent chief executive and on the potential for sponsorship change. Caritas has retained the services of Russell Reynolds Associates, an international executive search firm with an office in Boston. John A. Kaneb, chairman, president and CEO of HP Hood in Chelsea, is leading the Caritas committee, which will work with Russell Reynolds in a national search for the best chief executive to lead our system. In tandem with this search, both the Archdiocese of Boston and Caritas Christi remain open to exploring appropriate and mutually agreeable affiliations with leading health care systems around the country that share our strong commitment to Catholic health care. Throughout this process, the media are likely to inquire about our plans for the future. As would be the case with most corporations, we will not divulge information that could hurt our ability to become a stronger system. I will promise, however, to keep you, our valued employees, informed in as timely a manner as possible. Thank you so much for your continued focus on the exceptional care of our patients and their families. Sincerely, |
