Brighton, MA -- The following is Cardinal Seán P. O'Malley's schedule for Holy Week, which begins on Palm Sunday, April 1, 2007 and concludes on Easter Sunday, April 8, 2007.
PALM SUNDAY Sunday, April 1, 2007
Time: 6:00pm
Where: St. Cecilia, 18 Belvidere Street, Boston, MA
Cardinal Seán will bless palm branches in memory of Christ's triumphant journey to Jerusalem. During Mass, the Passion story will be read. This Mass, which is the beginning of Holy Week, will be celebrated with many young Catholics from local colleges and universities.
CHRISM MASS Tuesday, April 3, 2007
Time: 11:00am
Where: Cathedral of the Holy Cross, 1400 Washington Street, Boston, MA
During this Mass, Cardinal Seán will consecrate sacred oils that all parishes in the Archdiocese will use to administer the Sacraments during the upcoming year. The clergy of the Archdioceses will renew their commitment to the priesthood. *Catholic TV to air (check local channel listings)

HOLY THURSDAY Thursday, April 5, 2007

During this Mass, which starts the Triduum--the three final days before Easter--, Cardinal Seán will wash the feet of 12 people, recreating the moment where Christ washed the feet of the apostles at the Last Supper. After Mass, the altar and sanctuary will be stripped in preparation for Good Friday, the day Christ died on the cross, and the Eucharist will be moved in solemn procession to a side chapel. *Catholic TV to air (check local channel listings)
GOOD FRIDAY Friday, April 6, 2007

Where: Cathedral of the Holy Cross, 1400 Washington Street, Boston, MA
At 3pm, Cardinal Seán will preside at a Liturgy of the Word and Veneration of the Cross. The people will come forward to kiss a crucifix, recalling Christ's death for our salvation. The tradition dates back to the late 4th century when, according to legend, Helen, the mother of Constantine, discovered the true cross in Jerusalem.
At 7pm, the Cardinal will preside at a Liturgy of the Word in Spanish and participate in a procession throughout the neighborhood of the South End. *Catholic TV to air (check local channel listings)
EASTER VIGIL Saturday, April 7, 2007

Where: Cathedral of the Holy Cross, 1400 Washington Street, Boston, MA
A celebration of Light, Proclamation of Salvation History, Baptisms and Baptism Renewal, Confirmations and the Eucharist. In an ancient rite, a fire will be lit on the steps of the Cathedral to symbolize the resurrection of Christ, the light of the world. From that fire, candles will be lit throughout the Cathedral until the darkened church is full of candlelight. As the Gloria is sung, the Cathedral lights will be turned on and candles extinguished as the celebration of Christ's coming resurrection begins. *Catholic TV to air (check local channel listings)
