March 16, 2007 - Catholic TV To Produce Season Three of Kids' Game Show“WOW” to be taped March 20-29 featuring Catholic school 3rd and 8th graders NEWTON, MA – Over six days in March (from 11am – 1pm, March 20-22 and 27-29), CatholicTV will tape the third season of its kids’ game show “WOW”. Each day a different school will come to CatholicTV’s studios at 55 Chapel Street in Newton to tape two shows that will debut in the fall when the station’s new season of programming begins. The schedule of schools that will tape season three of WOW is as follows:
“WOW” is a simple, fun, educational, game show for kids of all ages. It features Catholic school students from all over the Archdiocese of Boston. Each episode of “WOW” is divided into two segments with four third-graders from a particular school competing against each other in the two parts of the show. The students sit on stools on a brightly-lit set with eighth-graders from their school, parents, family members, teachers and other school staff in the studio audience. CatholicTV’s director, Father Robert Reed hosts and asks the children about their backgrounds and then reveals the “WUDABOUT” or the theme of the show. He then talks with each of the children about the theme, words and concepts that have special meaning in Catholic life. Each time a child responds with a captivating or profound answer, the crowd shouts WOW! to signal the awarding of a “wowser”. The winner of each round is the student with the most wowsers at the end. By involving children in CatholicTV’s ministry, their parents and families are also involved, as are their schools, and the goal of the show is to be exciting, entertaining, and fun. Father Reed served as a parish priest for 19 years and believes, “the church is the local parish. I hope our programming will help bring people back to the church and into their local parishes.” CatholicTV is a viewer-funded cable television station directed by Father Reed that broadcasts a variety of religious, prayerful and educational programs 24 hours a day and can be seen in more than 175 communities in Eastern Massachusetts and via satellite in other dioceses throughout the country. It is carried 24 hours daily in the city of Boston on channel 45, in other Comcast communities on Channel 56 (hours vary) and by RCN on Channel 68 and 85. Internet users can tune in CatholicTV’s online broadcast via the station’s all-new web site, www.catholictc.org by clicking WATCH LIVE. Other programs (including past episodes of WOW) are available on demand and a complete program schedule is available at the web site. |
