December 18, 2006 - Statement of the Archdiocese of Boston on the Reinstatement of Father Roger Jacques
(Brighton, Mass.) December 18, 2006...The Archdiocese of Boston today announced that it has fully restored Fr. Roger Jacques as a priest in good standing. Fr. Jacques was placed on administrative leave in October 2002 due to a single allegation of sexual abuse of a minor approximately twenty years earlier. The allegation was found to be unsubstantiated and the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith has confirmed this finding. In making today's announcement Cardinal Seán O'Malley expressed his continued concern for all persons impacted by the sexual abuse crisis and reiterated his firm intention to resolve cases of this type in a manner that is just for all parties.
