November 21, 2006 - Archdiocese Update On St. Philip Neri and Mary Immaculate Of Lourdes Parishes
The parishioners of St. Philip Neri and Mary Immaculate of Lourdes parishes in Newton, and the members of the Korean Catholic community in the Archdiocese, have been invited to a meeting to be held at St. Philip Neri church this Sunday evening. At that time, representatives of the Archdiocese of Boston will present proposals which seek to achieve the established goal that the pastoral care of parishioners of St. Philip and Mary Immaculate be provided for by one parish, and to provide for the pastoral care of the Korean community.
As has been reported, the Archdiocesan Presbyteral Council, a consultative body, discussed these matters at their September meeting and offered a recommendation. No final decisions concerning St. Philip Neri and Mary Immaculate parishes have been made. The purpose of Sunday's meeting is to share a comprehensive set of proposals with the parishioners from both parishes and the members of the Korean community, and to hear their respective thoughts. The Archdiocese looks forward to continuing a thoughtful and considered process of planning, with the hope of achieving a final decision concerning the care of the Catholic community in Newton and the Korean Catholic community by this coming January
