July 13, 2006 - Clarification Regarding the Passionists Cavalry Retreat Center
While the Passionists order is consolidating their ministry and will no longer be able to staff parishes in the Archdiocese of Boston, their retreat center, the Calvary Retreat Center in Shrewsbury, will remain open. The Calvary Retreat Center opened in 1965 and is one of eight Passionist retreat centers in our eastern United States province. In the Passionist tradition, they direct parish-based retreats most weekends. These usually are men's or women's weekends that have groups from specific parishes attending. Over the years they have developed retreat groups from parishes in all the diocese of Massachusetts including the Archdiocese of Boston.
When the St. Gabriel's Passionist Retreat House in Brighton was closed about 1980, many of the Boston area retreatants continued to attend retreats at our retreat center in Shrewsbury. For more information on The Passionnists' Calvary Retreat Center, please feel visit: www.calvaryretreat.org
