June 28, 2006 - The Archdiocese of Boston Statement Regarding the Criminal Proceedings Involving Rev. Paul William Hurley
The Archdiocese of Boston has been informed that Rev. Paul William Hurley has been found guilty of charges involving the sexual abuse of a minor. In 2001, upon receiving an allegation of sexual misconduct, the Archdiocese of Boston placed Fr. Paul W. Hurley on administrative leave. In light of his conviction, the Archdiocese of Boston will continue to restrict Fr. Hurley from any public ministry. The trial and conviction of Fr. Paul W. Hurley serves as a painful reminder of the harm and suffering survivors of clergy sexual abuse and their loved ones have endured.
Cardinal Sean again apologizes to survivors and all who have suffered as a result of the sexual crimes perpetrated against children by priests. He further reiterates his continued commitment to providing support and assistance to survivors and their families and to the Archdiocese's ongoing efforts to ensure that no child is ever harmed again."
