May 25, 2006 - Board of Governors of Caritas Christi Health Care System voted to recommend that Dr. Robert Haddad 's employment be terminated

(Brighton, MA) ... Acting on Cardinal Seán P. O'Malley 's recommendation, the Board of Governors of Caritas Christi Health Care System voted to recommend to the Corporate Members of Caritas Christi that Dr. Robert Haddad's employment be terminated.

The Board of Governors also voted that in the event Dr. Haddad chooses to resign, that the Compensation Committee of the Board of Governors be authorized to offer to Dr. Haddad a separation agreement for a continuation of salary and certain benefits for a period of 10 months. Dr. Haddad has agreed to resign.

Cardinal Seán said, "The events that have brought us to this moment are very unfortunate and serious not only for those directly impacted but for the entire Caritas Christi Health Care community. Our actions this evening recognize that all complaints of sexual harassment will be taken seriously and investigated thoroughly. All the members of the Caritas Board join me in extending our sincere appreciation to the dedicated employees of Caritas Christi who focus every day on the patients they serve and their continuing commitment to affirming Christ's healing ministry."

Cardinal Sean O'Malley and the Caritas Christi Board of Governors reiterate their commitment to providing a working environment free from sexual harassment. Caritas Christi Health Care (CCHC) is the second largest health care system in New England, employs 12,000 and serves more than one million patients annually.
