April 6, 2006 - Cardinal O'Malley announces appointment of new Vicar General and Moderator of the Curia for the ArchdioceseBrighton, MA……..Cardinal Seán O'Malley today announced that Rev. Richard Erikson, Chaplain, Lieutenant Colonel, United States Air Force has been name as a Vicar General and Moderator of the Curia for the Archdiocese.
Fr. Erikson, ordained for the Archdiocese of Boston in 1985, has extensive experience in parish ministry, seminary education and military chaplaincy. In speaking about this new appointment he observed, "I am grateful to the Archdiocese of Boston for allowing me to serve on active duty over the past seven years. I greatly appreciate the confidence Cardinal Sean has placed in me by appointing me to this important ministry and am looking forward to returning home to the Archdiocese. Fr. Erikson, currently assigned to the Office of the Chief of Chaplains at Bolling Air Force Base in Washington, D.C., will begin his new assignment in the Archdiocese on or about June 15, 2006.
