July 29, 2005 - Archdiocese of Boston Announces Priests
No Longer in the Clerical State
(Brighton, Massachusetts) July 29, 2005 ...The Archdiocese of
Boston today announced that the Holy See recently has decided that
Paul E. McDonald and Eugene O 'Sullivan are no longer in the clerical
state.
Loss of the clerical state means that these men may not function in any
capacity as a priest, with the exception of offering absolution to the
dying. Since these men are no longer counted among the priests of the
Archdiocese of Boston, they cease to receive any financial support from the Archdiocese.
