June 9, 2005 - Archdiocese of Boston Announces Priests
No Longer in the Clerical State
The Archdiocese of Boston today announced that the Holy See recently has
decided that John Connell, Denis Conte, Peter Frost, John Hanlon, Richard
Matte and Paul David White are no longer in the clerical state.
Loss of the clerical state means that none of these men may function
in any capacity as a priest, with the exception of offering absolution
to the dying. Since these men are no longer counted among the priests
of the Archdiocese of Boston, they cease to receive any financial support
from the Archdiocese.
