March 22, 2005 - Archdiocese of Boston Announces that Reverend
Edward Keohan Will Be Returned To Active Ministry
(Boston, Massachusetts) March 22, 2005…The Archdiocese of Boston today
announced that the Reverend Edward Keohan, former administrator of Our Lady
of Lourdes in Revere, will be returned to active ministry.
In 2003, Father Keohan was placed on administrative leave following the receipt
of a single complaint of sexual abuse of a minor. After careful review of
the information available regarding the complaint, the Review Board determined
that the allegation was unsubstantiated. In light of this finding, Archbishop
O'Malley has lifted all restrictions on Father Keohan's exercise of public
ministry.
The Archbishop reiterates his concern for all persons impacted by the tragedy
of sexual abuse, as well as his firm intention to resolve cases of this type
as expeditiously as possible, in a manner that is just for all parties concerned.
