Papal Blessing Instructions
Important!: A Papal
Blessing must be requested from the local (Arch)Diocese. The
following instructions are
applicable only to members of the Boston Archdiocese. All other
requests will be ignored.
- Method of securing the blessng through the Apostolic Nunciature
in Washington , DC
- Read the Important notice above!
- The request for the blessing should be addressed to the
Very Reverend Richard Erickson
Moderator of the Curia

- Each request is to be sent to the office of the Moderator
of the Curia together with the following information:
- The name(s) of the individual(s) to receive
the blessing
- The occasion to be celebrated
- The date of the occasion
- If the occasion is a wedding:
- the name of the church
in which the wedding is to take place
- the city and state in which that church is locate
- A recommendation from the parish priest of the individual(s)
to receive the blessing, or from a priest familiar with the
individual(s), attesting to his/her/their good standing in
the Roman Catholic
Church is to be forwarded with the above information.
- Include a forwarding address to where the blessing is to
be sent.
- The offering for the Papal Blessing is $20.00. The check
is made payable to The Apostolic Nunciature.
It takes approximately 2 to 3 weeks for the blessing to be
prepared, completed, and
returned to the sender.
- If a more ornate scroll on which the Papal Blessing
is recorded is desired, then the request can be directed to
a commercial
office in Rome.
It takes 6 to 8 weeks via AIR MAIL for the scroll
to be prepared, completed, and shipped. This secondary method
does not go through the Office of the Moderator
of the Curia, but goes directly between the requestor and the
firm, Bruno del Priore
- The cost for the scroll (calligraphy) is $25.00 with the
check made payable to Del Priore, SRL and mailed to:

- The information required for securing the Papal Blessing
from the Apostolic Nunciature is also required, i.e., #3-4
in Section
I above.
